Using Rekey is as simple as it gets. Once it's running, you'll see a small icon (🔄) in your menu bar at the top of your screen.
You can also set up a keyboard shortcut in Rekey's preferences to correct text even faster — no mouse needed at all.

❓ Rekey doesn't correct my text. What should I do?
Make sure you have granted Rekey Accessibility permission. Go to System Preferences → Security & Privacy → Privacy → Accessibility, and check the Rekey box. You might also need to quit and reopen Rekey after granting access.
❓ Will Rekey interfere with my other apps?
No. Rekey only reads text when you explicitly ask it to. It stays completely passive in your menu bar until you click it or trigger the shortcut.
❓ Can I use Rekey with any application?
Yes! Rekey works with any app that uses standard macOS text editing — Safari, Chrome, Mail, Messages, Microsoft Word, Pages, Notion, Slack, and just about everything else.
❓ Is my data ever sent anywhere?
Absolutely not. Everything happens locally on your computer. Rekey has zero Internet connection and never sees your text.
Rekey is free, open source, and maintained by volunteers who believe that technology should work for you — not the other way around.
